Fretting Hand Slapping

I am working on fretting hand slapping. I would like to achieve a nice ghost note when I slap with my fretting hand, however, I am consistently hearing a note. I think the reason is because of the low tension of the strings. I am playing a Fender Mustang with 40-95 strings. Before I replace the strings with a set of 45-105s, I would like to ask for advice. Perhaps there are other reason(s) why I am not getting a good ghost note.

Try 3-4 fingers. Spreads the load. Also focus on flattening them. Work on just the fretting hand for a while and then reintroduce to the whole technique.

The problem is not the strings or the bass. It’s a matter of the right technique. Use all four finger and make them as flat as possible. If you keep your fingers curved you will get a hammer on instead of a ghost note. Also don’t apply too much force. Good luck!

Thanks! I tried that and it made a big difference! I also slapped the fret board with my hand over the neck instead of under it like when I am playing and I get an excellent ghost note. Now, I just need to work on slapping with my hand under the neck. It is surprising to me that there was a difference. This is harder than I thought but when I get it right it sounds awesome!
