So I am a member of the House Of Blues ticket club, I have early access to big shows. I hove over the keybaord at 10am this morning hoping to jump in fast and grab as many Alice In Chains tickets as they'll let me. And when it rolls over to 10am, instead of getting the order window, I get a message saying that they've decided to not sell these tickets early afterall... This show, unlike the other 5 that were advertised going on sale today, will actually sell out, fast. So they block their consumers from getting presale tickets, using the link THEY handed out to get presale tickets.
Meanwhile, a scalper company already has some of these tickets on Ebay for sale, I went through this with Tool too, in that case there was over 200 PAIRS of tickets on Ebay BEFORE the sale of them even officially began. Does HOB own a scalping firm? It's so unfair.
Anyway, I was so disgusted losing out to scalpers again, so grossly, that I wrote a complaint letter to HOB. I know it will fall on deaf ears, what major corporation doesn't completely ignore hte masses? But it made me feel better all the same, so here is my letter to them for you to enjoy all the same...
Why would you lead on your consumers like this? I was really excited to see that my HOB membership would let me get Alice In Chains tickets early before all the scalpers got them. I hover over my computer until it turns exactly 10am this morning and discover that despite getting the link directly from you guys, you have opted to NOT sell these tickets early to the public afterall. Thanks for getting my hopes up.
Out of curiosity I jump on Ebay and see no less than a few pairs of these tickets ALREADY up for sale by well known scalper companies. Further investigation confirms that their tickets actually went on sale BEFORE they were supposed to even be available through your site. Great to know that you help professional scalpers get tickets before everyone else, then shut down the publics ability to get tickets at all.
I went through this exact same thing with Tool and Coldplay. In that case, I even paid money to join a club to "Get to the front of the line," what a waste of money that was. Before the tickets were supposed to be released to the PAID ADMISSION fan club, over 200 pairs of tickets could already be had on Ebay through the exact same scalper company that already has Alice In Chains tickets, and the event was sold out before it was even supposed to be sold at all. Nice.
Do you guys own those specific scalpers, or just have some sort of mutual, financially benefical arrangement with them?
And you wonder why ticket sales are soft these days? Who would want to go to a show if this it what happens everytime a major show comes through town? It doesn't pay to be a music fan it seems. It also doesn't pay, unless you are a scalper anyway, to bother attending any shows hosted by HOB.
