Search for 25k solid tone and 25k solid volume.

Apparently you must have active pickups and got a kit with new pots you previously replaced. In that case, you can't just replace the pots and cap. You should contact EMG for replacement info. Sorry - I was confused by your explanation.

Thank you much, this is exactly what I was looking for I think. The EMG's I have in it are active to comment on the previous posts. What I was trying to say was that I THINK that when the EMG's were put in my bass, the pots were not replaced with them. I'm not sure though. It does say 25K on the pot though so maybe they were switched out. I'll check the link above. Thanks again for all the help folks.

I am most certain that you must have gotten the pots with the EMG pickups in a kit. You should be able to get new ones from them. Glad I could help.

I have used a bunch of EMG's in the past. Your EMGs are the old type that lack the quick disconnects on the pickups. EMGs all come with a volume and tone pot. I imagine the pots installed in your bass are the pots that came with your pickups. You can buy a new set here.

Yeah that's exactly what I was looking for bassgod, thanks a bunch. Is there any other pots or cap I can put in there to improve the pups? Or should I just stick with these in the link?

The only thing I've ever done besides using the EMG pots is using one of their onboard preamps with their pickups. Their bass/treble preamps are pretty good. The variable mid control is meh in my experience. However, fitting an EMG preamp and the battery in a P or J bass control cavity is almost impossible without routing or use of a battery box.

Oh man I didn't see that thread, that bass LOOKS AWESOME!! You did a great job. I'd like to do something like that to my bass. Maybe not as in depth as you yet, I don't have a workshop or the tools, but it's something Ive been wanting to do for a while now with my first P. other than the fretless aspect but everything else, pretty much. The only problem is I don't know exactly which EMG's I have in there. There seems to be so many of them. And mine are older so that may narrow it down a little. I just reorder new pots and cap but other than that I don't know what else I can do. It would be cool to throw a preamp in there of some sort as well, but I wouldn't know where to begin as far as putting one in, which one would be compatible and so forth. I want to change the PG too, make my own like you did. Seems a lot better to make your own than to spend almost $50 on one sold by fender.

That eBay link I sent you has a tone, volume, and the capacitor. You have regular EMG P pickups. Pretty much the only active pickup they had back then.

You can fit an EMG BTC control with a volume knob and 9volt in the factory cavity with a little bit of routing inside the cavity. And no, you wouldn't have to make the cavity wider or make a new pick guard for it. The first pic of my Joan Rivers thread has a BTC system with a 9 volt and it fit under the Fender pearloid pickguard.

Ha! I sold it. The EMG mid really didn't do anything. However, during my Explosive Ibanez build, I re routed the bridge cavity to fit a big EMG 35 DC. Cutting through the mix problem solved!

Ok, I seem to be having an issue trying to replace the pots in my squier P. I'm just switching the pots out from my active EMG's and I can't seem to solder the braid to the case of the volume pot. Is there some type of special solder I need for this?? Please help! Thank you.

I usually get the pot warm. Then I apply solder to the pot casing. Once melted, I stick the wire on top and apply heat to the braid.
Be sure to scuff the pot so the solder has a place to grab on to.

Well, it won't stick. Not even a little bit. I don't get it.

I got it. I wasn't letting it cool while holding it place long enough. I'm use to soldering something and having it pretty much cool in a couple seconds and then stick. I had to let the whole pot and solder cool for a good 30 sec to a minute while I held it there. Thanks for the help god
