Frustration on my JERZY DROZD build. Please help me.

Hello. So I ordered a Excellency in nov/dec. And I am not happy with the communication. It is only through email and it is most likely one way. Think they were supposed to have started working on the bass first week of Jan. So when I ordered the bass I didn't know what top I wanted because well I wanted to see samples. Is that wrong? Anyway we are into March and I have heard nothing on what top I want. Rarely get replies to my emails. I ordered 2 basses through JCR custom basses that took 3 months. Am I right for getting a bit angry? And is it normal that customer service is this way with JD? Please help calm me down. Thanks alot TB family.

Last i knew a custom order is just that a custom order! wish means the Customer chooses
tops
specs etc.
Thats why its a custom!
Yes you're absolutely rite for being pissed!

Thank you. It almost feels as if this is a scam, but I'm sure it's not. When I ordered bass they said 6 Mos build time. And by now they couldn't have done the body and neck? Sure there is more than that but really? I'm not gonna vent to much but really not happy with this customer service. Lorenna says she prefer email contact over phone.

Which is practically none on her end.

Relax. My custom excellency took 2.5 years.
At one point there was a 2 years waiting list just to make an order.
It's one thing if that kind of wait time is established up front, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. And a two year wait just to make an order seems ridiculous to me.

What she prefers doesn't matter if you're not getting sufficient service. There are plenty of other luthiers who would gladly do business with you on a more professional level. Why not just go see one of them?

Well when your work is in demand, and you are low production, sometimes a waiting list occurs. Sometime unexpected things occur during a build that hold things up. In my case, there were a couple things that caused some delays, but it wasn't anyone's fault. Just how things go. During my bass' build, a second body needed to be carved because Jerzy wasn't 100% satisfied with the first one. This required finding more wood, and then needed to be dried in a kiln before it could be worked.
Necks are left to acclimatize for months after initial carving to stabilize. Production basses usually get priority over custom basses. There are many factors. ...and Jerzy is a perfectionist and an artist as well as a craftsman, so he isn't just going to slap your sh1t together. In the end the buyer will get a bass that EXCEEDS their expectations. I can assure you. My bass was worth every penny, and worth every second that I waited for it.

also... if the OP did some research, he would have found out that 6 months is extraordinarily fast for Jerzy to complete a custom build. Just ask anyone in the JD club how long their custom basses took to complete. I suspect a misunderstanding in your build timeframe. It was likely "get started" within, or in 6 months time, and not completed. As you just placed your order a couple months ago, I am sure your bass will be at the bottom of the batting order, and that there are several basses in line ahead of you.
As I said .. relax. In the end your bass will be flawless, and awesome.

I can understand that. But was that communicated to you as it happened? Because 6 months in and I haven't heard a word. And they could care less what top I will want. Even though I said multiple times of they can send me some photos. And nothing. Glad it worked out for you. Sent Lorenna a nasty email before:unsure:

Well, Nov/Dec isn't 6 months.... so your story has now changed. ...And you sent a nasty email to Lorenna? Why? Many builders would return your deposit after that, and tell you to stuff your order.
I suggest you apologize to her for being an ass. This is a quality instrument you ordered, not a piece of crap.

My father used to say "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar". ;) (Not really true, vinegar is better for fruit flies, actually, but hey.)

I meant Oct 24 I ordered it. And now I would take deposit back and put toward a fodera. How can you be like this to your clients? Almost 6 months and can't get any input. Really? She can't just tell me where we are at with the build? Just that she is always soo busy she can't respond to me emails. Really? ? I am a client.
