I bought this bass a couple months ago and it's awesome, but unfortunately I found out at last nights extended practice that it just doesn't jive with my shoulder. I've had shoulder issues with a lot of basses but I didn't expect it with the Ric, with it being a short scale. It sucks and I'm bummed.

After my first practice with this bass I decided it needed some work to get it where I wanted it. It's currently strung BEAD and it is set up for that. This might be a problem for someone wanting a standard tuning. Worry not! If someone wants it back to standard, I will order a new nut, install it, and set it up before shipping it off. Shouldn't delay things much.

I did a lot of work to this bass last week, including a fret level, crown, and polish as well as a full shielding job, which cut down on the noise quite a bit. I cut the nut to proper height and fine tuned the bridge saddles. It plays great, and more importantly sounds great tuned down with the Circle K's. This Ric also has a treble bezel, and will come with all the case candy as well as the pickup cover. It's in mint condition. It's been to a couple practices but it's spent most of the time in my house on the stand. Weight is 9.5 pounds.

This is one of the only Ric's I have seen where there aren't any noticeable flaws. It came the way all Ric's should; Playable, lightweight, and awesome. I simply made it a bit more awesome.

I'm looking for [DEL]1550.00 shipped[/DEL] 1400.00 + shipping.

As far as trades, I honestly have no idea what I want. Most likely looking for a 5 string, but the right 4 string could work. I prefer lighter basses with G&L or Musicman string spacing, and I've had the best luck with more standard Fender-esque shapes. I can add cash if there was a bass that I just had to have, otherwise I'm looking for a straight trade or maybe a + cash on your end.

Never heard of BEAD on a Rick before. How do those sub-E notes come across?

Is there mush or flab due to the shorter scale or does the definiton hold together?

Sounds pretty good. It's definitely not the best sounding B on the planet but in a mix, it gets the job done better than you'd think. Personally, I like a bit more flexibility and the Circle K strings really play and sound great. I don't find them flubby or anything. If you like a lot of tension, it might not be your thing though.

A new nut is on order, which is crazy. The nut was 6 bucks, but shipping was 9!! Holy cow! I'll include the nut that was cut for BEAD with any deals, just in case. It should be set up with a new nut and factory strings by mid week.

Ran into the same issue. I even complained about it on the Ric site. I believe the post was removed ( shocking). I found the nut elsewhere and I think the whole thing wound up to be about $8 shipped.

Just to assuage anyone's concerns about low end and "short scale" issues, the 4001/4003 is 33 1/4" scale. Hardly "short scale" and they feel no different to me in terms of finger spacing than a more standard 34".

And yes, that is a wonderful color, so good luck with the sale, WSO.

Will be working on the bass in a few minutes to get it stock again. Figured I'd get it out of the way as I can't really play it.

Lets try for a cash sale here: 1400.00 + shipping.
