Hi folks, for sale is this fine 535-24 with lovely spalted maple top hand picked from Mike's stash.

Specs:
535-24 #1406 (2006 I think)
Spalted maple top
Matching headstock veneer and truss rod cover
Mahogany body
Wenge neck/wenge fingerboard

This bass has never been gigged, in fact it's never even left the house. Never hung in a shop, received direct. Occasional playing only and I'm not a slapper (yeah I know why have one of these right?) so even under the microscope it looks unplayed (I can't see anything penalizing its condition). There are a few minor scuffs on the case from the closet case shuffle.

With a few other more traditional go-tos in hand and another conquest in mind, I'm not interested in trades, for sale only -- $3,400 shipped and insured CONUS only.

Here's a few pix, with a few to follow. Thanks for looking.

Here's a few more pix. I'll take a few more tonight to get a truer color of the body top. Let me know if you'd like to see additional views or ask any questions -- thanks.

Wow, exactly what I was looking for. Too bad you don't want any kind of trade for this one :(

Thanks for the bumpage and support, folks. Didn't get to take better pix last night but until I can I will say that the headstock pic I posted is pretty darn true colorwise. I took the pix yday in the early morning light and holding the neck out of the case for the headstock shot illuminated it better.

This one's like new, honestly folks. It needs to be played by someone who will beat it up a little more.

Sorry jebmd I don't have access to a scale at the moment (my, bonzer, how you've let yourself go...) I will try to find one in the neighborhood tonight.

I love my mahogany body MTD 535. It especially has very even tone across and up/down the neck. I can play an open G, for example and the G sounds the same on the 5, 10, 15, 20th fret, other strings. You have a unique wood combination here that has me curious. I'm wondering how the wenge neck sounds (which usually adds a really nice high end shimmer and some compression) with the mahogany/spalt maple body?

Being that this is the only MTD I've spent time with, unlike some of you true connoisseurs out there, I have no firm basis of comparison. But I can tell you that the mahogany body was chosen to balance the brightness of the wenge.

Here's a few fresh pix with better light. There's a little glare on the upper bout of the first shot -- the tone of the spalted is consistent across the top.

Swirly chocolate mousse with caramel backing on a dark chocolate stick. Anybody hungry?
