Fuller sound?

I play in a death metal band with just one guitarist. Generally everything is full and just awesome sounding but when it comes to solos and having just bass and drums for backing isnt enough.
Is there any kind of effect that can make my bass fuller and richer without losing the actual bass sound?

Search for octave up octavers, some fuzzes or distortions, maybe filters.

All of these you can have modify your sound enough to add to it but not to change it. Off the top of my head I can think of Electro Harmonix as an amazing company (currently have 3 of their pedals along with several other brands). Check out the POG octave, Big Muff in any variation as long as you try it, and try either their preamp and use it as a pedal or try one of their synths.

And this is only one company.

Going in a different route, try changing up what you are playing. Are you doing alot of open picking? add some fifth, sevenths, or even tritone (cringe) pickups to the measures just to add some more harmonic substance

I play in a 1 guitar modern rock/metal band, and here's what I've found about that situation:

Sometimes less is more - when a guitarist goes into a solo, you might be better served by sticking closer to the root note, and chugging rather than playing passing phrases... Also, I tend to sustain notes more in those situations, rather than chop them off... Lastly, I run my amp fairly hot, and let it do the heavy lifting - that way, if I need a volume boost, I just dig in a little harder - I do this during guitar solos alot... My band plays alot of 2 guitar stuff, that that's how I do things to make it work within a 1 guitar context...

+1 for George. Playing in a 3-pc requires certain adjustments to your playing style.
