Fun With Wah

I've never had a wah pedal before, but after trading for a Boss AW-3, I asked Behndy if he had a spare expression I could borrow. Well, he had a Moog EP-2 that had a strange feature -- it automatically returned from full heel to 25%. :) In other words, it doesn't work right, so he gift me with it.

I have had a week to play with the AW-3 and tonight I got the chance to try it with an expression pedal -- otherwise known as manual mode.

For the record, I don't play funk of any sort. I also don't play any 80's music or pretty anything that either uses auto-wah or wah. It is a neat effect though.

So...what sort of tune or bass pattern should I try to get something resembling a productive result?

The benefit of a manual wah is the expressiveness it provides. And that expressiveness works anywhere you find a use for it, not just in funky stuff. I recently put up a garage-y song with wah action in the second half (admittedly, it was done with a Chunk 00Funk, but I was showing how wah-like that sucker can be made to sound, so I think I should at least get partial credit). I'll repost it here, just to give an example:
