Funk Amp

I find my crate combo (15" 100watt) has a great slap tone and can get real funky.

Oh wow, you're in WV.....but you're too far away to try it out. Well, if you're in charleston anytime in the future, drop me a line.

There are alot of different "funk" sounds. Is it an old school funk sound your going for, bootsy, flea, marcus miller, what? It would help alot if you gave us some more info, like price range. If you want good tone, first of all, a crate combo (^) is not the way to go, and you might have to buy an amp with more than 80 watts, as most quality gear with good tone is made more powerful than that.

I really don't want to be a smartarse, but even from my small amount of years playing, i've found, like many others, that a 'funk' sound comes more from the fingers, not the amp.

We've got a crate combo at school, it's a POS, but, give it a bit of EQ and get right in there with the fingers, and it's funky as anything.
