Funk Effects Pedals

Hey kids, I'm in a trio that's getting more involved with funk ("kiss", Prince... "Use Me", Bill Withers...). I've found an Ehx Micro Q-Tron, and have an old Submarine pedal that needs some help. But what do you old-school funkifiers use to get that Mod-Squad thing going on?

Good envelope filter, with or without mild OD.
I get good results from the HAZ Mutron III reissue. I'd love to get an original, but that's not in the cards right now.
People say good things about several others, including the Groove Regulator.
