I'm throwing a set of Roto Funkmasters on the 4003 today, and I'm pretty stoked about it. In almost 5 years of owning a Rick, I've never been 100% on board with any of the rounds I've tried. When I first got it I went right to the standard gauge steel 66s, which are usually my roundwound go to...I was ready to get my Chris Squire on, baby!
And I didn't like how they felt on that specific bass at all.
Now flats have been a different story. Had TI Flats on it for a while....AWESOME. D'Adarrio tapewounds....AWESOME.
But I really want that classic, grindy Rick sound.
So let's hope the Funkmasters scratch that itch.
