future weapons.

I love that show. Today, they had a new H&K MP-7. THey were showing the guy shooting at a high-tech carbon fiber helmet, and it looked like the bullets were bouncing off. Then the guy picked it up and turned it around and you saw the huge EXIT hole. Weeeehaw! Good fun!

I like that dragon scale body armor. That episode was cool. I'll bet that stuff costs a fortune. Many materials will stop bullets but the shock and energy transfer is still deadly. The dragon skin absorbs much of the energy from the bullet.

Yeah, that was cool. And from down the road a bit from me here. How 'bout how they threw it over a grenade? That was impressive!

Do I watch future weapons? I design future weapons. :ninja:

I work for the Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) working with some of the best engineering teams in the country desigining the FCS (future combat systems).

This is one of the many projects my group works on: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I have heard that due to the design... overlapping scales... that this armor is vulnerable when shot at from below (like when a soldier is on a rooftop firing upon insurgents) because the bullet can get underneath the lower edge and penetrate it.

Anyone hear anything about that?

Have any openings for M.E.s? ;)

Halo 3 better have this shotgun!

Last night they had the new .408 caliber custom-designed sniper rifle. They tested it at 2530 yards. A MILE AND A HALF AWAY. Fascinating stuff. I missed the section on the electromagnetic gun. Damn dog...

I make sure to visit the Cheytac booth every year at the SHOT Show. They make some damn cool rifles!!

Always, but you'd have to relocate here. :)

Edit: Actually, General Dynamics is out near you, and is a major player in FCS stuff. Check them out. You'll probably make better money working for industry rather than the Government anyways.

Yeah, I have a family friend at General Dynamics. And a personal friend over at TACOM. Cool stuff, it seems.

I don't graduate until this summer, so we'll see how the market holds up then. I'm hoping to not have to relocate, but it may be my only option.
