Fuzz bass in soul band with horn section

I'm currently playing in a 6 piece band with two horns, drums, organ/keys, vocals, bass, and guitar. There are a couple of songs we wrote that would benefit from the fuzz bass sound like in Beautiful Brother of Mine or (Don't Worry) If there's a hell below by Curtis Mayfield. Getting the fuzz to be heard and sit in the mix without completely blowing away the rest of the band is very difficult. I'm using the Malekko Diabolik fuzz which is very similar to the B:assmaster circuit, and I have the EQ on my Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 set flat. Any advice for getting the fuzz bass to work in the mix would be appreciated.
