I love fuzz. Any suggestions for expanding my collection?

oh boy... get ready for a deluge of suggestions. For the most part, TB'ers really know and love their fuzz (well, dirt). You'll probably hear the usual suspects: Iron Ether Oxide, sanford & Sonny Bluebeard, Mountainking Magnetar, Mountainking Megolith, Mountainking Bohemoth, smallsound/bigsound TAFM, Malekko Brassmaster, Infanem Second Voice, Fuzzrocious Greystache, Zvex Woolly Mammoth, Zvex Mastotron, D*A*M Ezekiel 25:17, etc, etc , etc.

I found my fuzz(es) of choice from the good folks here on TB. I'll let the experts elaborate on what's what and why choose one over the other but, WOW, there are some great bass freindly fuzzes out there these days. It's a lot of fun doing the research and even more testing them all for yourself.

A search of this forum with any one of the names I threw at you above will yield some quality results. The key is to have the patience to read through them all and check out as many demos as you can. One thing to be weary of though - many of the demos do not show the true verstility of the pedal. They are merely the favorite settings of the poster. Just bear that in mind as you browse. There may be some great options that you overlook because you don't like a particular demo.

Good luck with the quest!

Maybe some type of big muff variant!

OK, but in reality bludog has a great list of popular suggestions and there are TONS of fantastic options out there. I've got a Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie B which is like the Swollen Pickle with a clean blend, the ss/bs TAFM which is incredibly versatile, and the IE Oxide which is really a beast unto itself and a different flavor of fuzz than I've had before. Of course I also have a radical Wooly Mammoth clone that shakes houses, but that sound isn't for everyone.

That's my suggestion too. I love me some muff too (especially green muff), but my TAFM has turned into my favourite fuzz pedal...heck, my favourite dirt pedal of any kind! Lots of tones in it, and all of them are great.

+1. TAFM. This pedal plays well with others.

Devi ever, if you're looking for something different. I love the chaos switch on my sodameiser. The Mangler pedals and dual pedals are also insane. I can't say you need more muffs. I've been considering the tall font Russian to replace my giant sovtek. If you're looking to reduce size, I'm told it's a solid clone. I haven't had an opportunity to try one first hand though.

My current favorites are: Recovery Couple Skate, Gojira Fuzz War, devi ever Don't Fear the Noise and Vintage Fuzz Master. Ones I want include: ss/bs Super Puzzle, VFE Woodchipper, Blackout Effectors Musket. For me, I really just want to have some kind of Super Fuzz-type, Brassmaster-type, octave up, octave down, Civil War Muff-type, and a couple crazy fuzzes, to have a nice palette to choose from.

Wow, Thanks for all the suggestions! One thing that I have to have is the huge low end that the russian muff and swollen pickle seem to have down so well. I'm playing in a rock trio and can't have the low end diminished when I want everything to be huger. I missed a sanford on ebay a couple weeks back, but I think my next purchase will have to be the TAFM. Any love for the supercollider here?

If you want your low end retained, TAFM is a fantastic way to go. If you want your low end accentuated and magnified in the way that green Russians can do, then you may want to consider a Dwarfcraft Eau Claire Thunder. They have monsterous low end, like the kind that shakes walls, frightens people, and makes adults cry.
