Fuzz w/ Most Low End but No Blend

I used to have a MessDrive but I sold it. I do remember it having massive lows though. It wasn't gated enough for me but now that I have the MP-201 controlling my filters, everything is different. If I can find one, I'd definitely be willing to give it a whirl in my current setup.

i play a muff clone that i built after doing many experiments with building a tonebender on a muff board.

through this i learned that fuzzes only really need large caps, tweaked tone controls (if present) and actually LESS clipping in order to get that big bottomless low end.

a great mod to any muff clone to make it instanty more bass friendly is to simply pull the first pair of clipping diodes.

if you want all the crazy clipping then find all the values of your particular boxes' tone control and plug them into the tone stack calculator provided by duncan amps. then tweak the values to get a curve you want.

since doing this research and understanding how the circuit works i've never had ANY problems retaining lows - in fact my experiments frequently produces results that boosted the lows.

the red messdrive is the hands down champion of "most lows"

its a really sweet pedal.

woolly mammoth qualifies too, but its expencive, and hates actives.

It's really too bad that there isn't a Mammoth clone out there. I'd buy one in a heartbeat. I very well may give the Mastotron a try though. The price is excellent. I really need to just give up and do a PT-Pro I think...
