I read a piece at Pioneers of fuzz: 13 guitarists who defined the fuzz pedal | MusicRadar regarding the pioneers of fuzz. They got a lot right like The Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction" However, I found the following missing:
The Dramatics' "What You See Is What You Get" is an early adoption of the fuzz box in R&B/Soul. And, there's more.
The Chi-Lites "Have You Seen Her?" is right in there with The Dramatics.
Again, speaking of more R&B they should have included the solo in "Easy" by Lionel Ritchie and The Commodores.
Finally, how could they leave out Norman Greenbaum and "Spirit In The Sky?"
I love fuzz and Hammond organs.
