Hey, out of curiosity, has anyone been able to cop a tone like this with their RT:

I know for a fact Nick is using an original white face Rat. I was going to get one but Ryan came along and told me all about the RT (the bastard
). This is really similar to my ideal tone... y'know, that tone you sometimes hear in your head that you wish you sounded like.
Now, I know the pedal isn't the only component here. Technique, bass, strings, and amp are major components, too. I'm not asking for help in getting his EXACT tone, but something quite similar to that with the RT. It sits so perfectly in the mix, and when it's just bass and drum, it's so thick and grindy.

It's a sweet pedal. I would have one, but I just spent a heap of dough on a monsterous Grey Stache mod. I'll post a clip once I get it back. It's going to be super nastey!

I'm sure the master mixing has a lot to do with it as well. Sounds a lot like he has a dry mix too. There is a lot of low end retention to be all Rat.
Yeah, I had a feeling a lot of it comes from mixing/mastering. I don't know how it sounds live because I've never seen them live. That tone is just so perfect.

Rats are easily modified too. He may have some mods on them that add to it. I have to agree with you on his tone. It is delicious.
I know he plays through the same amp as me, and if he's not playing a MusicMan he's playing a P-bass.
When I get my P-bass, I am going to sit down with my RT and just play until I get something similar. Will post results.

I know this is going to sound silly, but is there a manual type thing for the RT floating around? Trying to figure out how all the knobs play together, specifically the 1 and 2 knobs. I know they interact with the F knob somehow, but how exactly?

.They interact with the D knob. Each pulls back on the clipping, so dial back one of the knobs and the signal clips less on the low notes...dial back the other to clip less on the high notes.
Ahh, that makes sense. And the F knob is a LPF, correct? Go all the right for...less high/mids? Something like that?
I'm gonna read this as asking for clips with a Momster? If I'm wrong here are some anyway. Plus picture.
