Updated. Congratulations on the newborns! I have my first due end of October. I'm a wee bit nervous, but ready.

Congrats Reaperman and all the other dads (future dads) too.

It's cool to be a little nervous about it but I'm a month in and fatherhood is so amazing!! I jam out to him all the time, he was in the womb during all the shows getting all the bass frequencies. :) I keep the noise down a bit at home now but will be getting some kind of air traffic control headphones for him to start bringing him along to shows, we have a couple of outdoor festivals coming up so it would be a good time to get him in the groove!

So I've been phasing between the rat tail and the OSD, and i want some opinions from you chaps.

I'm looking for that sort of Josh Newton-esque bass tone.

Currently i run a Warwick Thumb BO and a Squier Classic Vibe Jazz (this gets used 90% of the time now), and will be using an SVP-CL preamp, BBE Sonic Maximizer (maybe, still not set on this) into a Sunn Coliseum Slave, which powers an Ampeg 610 and a Sunn 215.

The tunes i play are pretty fast converge/ETID/All Hallow's era AFI sorta stuff. But we do/will have doomier sections as well (but i guess that's where the fuzz comes in to play)

Given all that, any suggestions from you folks?

You can message Josh. He's on TB ;).

Josh's sound revolves around p basses and orange amps. So, in other words, basses that are full in the mix, esp in the low mids and a high gain tube amp. Last time I checked, he was still using the OSD as his main dirt and has been digging the GS+ a lot too. With that said, the OSD is your best, cheapest place to start!

nice! was worrying that my mail people stole it.

heh. we played a show with Screech and his horrible band. we're talking the Head Of The Class Screech right?

the owner of the club came back stage while we were blowing them up with Le Screechah and Omar made him cry and go into the Screech Voice after yelling at him about doing drugs in his club. we're were dying, 'cause Omar was just ****ing with him. he used to offer a rail or a bump to you when you were getting your pay for the night.

Someone was not a Saved By The Bell fan ;). When I had cable, I would watch this show every morning on TBS!!!

I heard that bass frequencies can rumble a baby right off of the bed. Bewaaaaare haha.

Nate Newton of Converge does pretty much the same thing. I've read in interviews that its ADB200, 810e and a Big muff.

Feeding dirt into a screaming tube amp sounds beautiful. That's the best way to cop those sounds.

Oh and a p-bass too. Of course.

I think I'm going to order a Phat Phuk B (yeah, yeah, it's not Fuzzrocious) to BOOST my Rat Tail.

My signal will be something like this:
Phat Phuk B -> Rat Tail -> Pickle Pie B -> ISP Decimator

I think I'll be needing a compressor for this.

Though the Phat Phuk is a fave for me you might do better by getting a 2nd Rat Tail, you got the germanium circuit in there, plus it would encourage Ryan to design a double RT ONE DAY! :) :) :)
