G-K Repair Tech Needed - Cleveland OH Area

Hi All:

I got a call from my friend a little while ago. His GK 1001RB combo amp suffered an electronic failure. Electromotive smoke leaked out.

He needs a competent repair tech in the Cleveland area. Does anybody have referral(s) that he can use to get his amp fixed?

Any help is appreciated.

I think Empirical Sound is an authorized service center. If you can obtain schematics I have a good friend who has been doing audio/electronic service for decades; he can probably do without it but having schematics is always an advantage.

I did not mention Beamish as I wasn't sure if they were an authorized service center; I have known about them for decades, too. I have dealt many times with ES, but primarily in purchasing speaker drivers and other things from them. EM is bassically :cool: around the corner from my studio.

Just a followup for those who might be interested. My friend e-mailed me back about his amp the other day. He had a pretty bad experience at the repair shop he took the amp to. The place had his amp for over 4 months and never even touched it! It is yet unrepaired. My friend took it back out of there under protest of the store management. I know my friend is a reasonable, diplomatic individual so I'm sure there was no attitude problem or anything like that.

Dropped off in early February 2010, picked up in early June 2010. I called about every 3 weeks, and stopped in twice during that time. The owner said he didn’t have a chance to look at it yet each time. When I asked him when could look at it he said, ‘Im not sure’.
