G&L just released their official 2014 Price List! The main bass related highlight is the addition of the new MJ5 model. The [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] came out last year, and now they've added a 5-string version for 2014! The MJ5 starts at $1950 MSRP, which you'll see advertised online for no less than 75% of MSRP = $1462.50.

The 2nd most notable thing is that the metal flak finishes have actually DROPPED in price. They used to be $400 MSRP, but now they're just $200 MSRP. VERY cool.

Until August 1st, G&L is allowing you to pay the lowest price from either the 2013 or 2014 price lists for whatever bass model and the options you want. If the bass model is lower on the 2013 list and the finish is cheaper on the 2014 list, you can pay the lowest price for each of those things. Hopefully that makes sense. I'll be updating my G&L Pricing thread later today, and it will show both the 2013 and 2014 prices for everything.

Here's the official announcement as I received it from G&L:

"Here’s the brand new long awaited 2014 G&L USA Dealer Price List.

As we carefully studied our models, we looked for opportunities to balance the price changes to maximize the competitiveness of the overall line. Not all prices went up, and in fact, some went down! Overall, the average price change on instruments is up about 2%. No option prices were increased. In fact, we cut the price of our famous Metal Flake finishes by 50%. No, we won’t skimp on them, they’ll be as stunning as ever. We’ve just gotten more efficient in applying them. Even better, the price for Satin Frost top coat was MSRP $100, now it’s free.

The prices of guitar and bass tolex cases, sold separately, did go up about 66%. Yes, that’s a lot. However, the cost of tolex cases has been skyrocketing the past few years, and this is the number one reason we’ve revised the price list.

Attached is a PDF of the price list which goes into effect August 1st. New models include the Bluesboy 90 Semi-Hollow and the highly anticipated MJ-5 bass (a 5-string version of an MJ-4). In the options, you’ll find Old School Tobacco Sunburst has officially returned as a Standard Finish, and Whiskey is now available on any model as a Premier Finish (looks amazing over Swamp Ash). We’ve got a Gloss Headstock face option, a model logo delete option and more.

So, we’ve got some prices up, some down… and a great way to get this phased in that dealers are sure to love. Between now and July 31st, I’ll accept orders at either the current price or upcoming price. Let’s say you want an ASAT Classic in Blue Metal Flake. You can pay the current price for the ASAT Classic plus the upcoming lower price for the Metal Flake finish. It’s price list cherry picking!

Taking orders NOW!"

As I was going through the price changes for each model, I noticed another cool thing! The JB basses actually DROPPED in price. They're now $1700 MSRP, down from $1900 MSRP in 2013. So the new price for showing a bare-bones JB on the internet is now 0.75 * $1700 = $1275. That's pretty darn reasonable!
