So awesome dude! I really want to do a G&L Custom Shop project sometime. Rock it in good health!

If you have the opportunity, I would highly recommend it. G&L's custom shop is still the best bang for the buck out there even with the price increases. I would love to spec a L-1000 to the hilt but something like that isn't on the radar.

Do you guys remember when there was a website called "G&L Guitar & Bass Generator" provided by http://www.americanguitarboutique.net ?

That was such an awesome site! I spent countless hours on it. The Maruszczyk one is really good. Kiesel now has a decent one as does Sandberg.

Has anyone played an L-2000 with a Caribbean Rosewood board? How does it sound? How does it feel? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I demoed a CLF Research L2K with that fingerboard and I thought it looked, felt, and sounded fine. I think a little linseed oil on it the first time the strings were changed would really be nice.

Thanks!! I actually picked up an L-1000 and I don't feel or hear a difference! I actually dig the grain now too.

I just bought myself a MIJ Precision to keep my Squier P company, and its a lovely instrument, and no way whatsoever does it make forget how keenly I'm awaiting my SB-1, it really is just filling in until The Day of MFD cometh.

That's beautiful, congrats! Yeah, I have Caribbean Rosewood on my JB, too, and I really like it a lot. Hence my ordering it on my forthcoming L2K.

They aren't pictured in the previous post, but here they are:
Labella 760FS-S. They have enough bite for them to cut through, and with the pickup lowered there's a lot of definition.
The tone pot is push-pull, with a mute function.

I use 760FL on this Mexican P, my USA P, and my Lakland Decade. 760FS on my fretless MIJ jazz, and 0760M on the Lakland hollowbody.

Good move!
I think GHS precision flats, TIs, Chromes and any labella would work well. I personally prefer LaBella.

yes, i dig all of those options, as well as Dunlop flats.
...so many good choices these days!!

Internet research told me that Chromes would be a brighter sound and Precision Flats would be the other extreme. I found this to be true. FYI.

Will be interesting to hear how the SB-1 feels and sounds, once you get it, compared to the Squier and MIJ Precision.

What I'm looking forward to, aside from the great grand glory of the MFD sound, is the cumulative effect of the G&L bridge, the 6-bolt join and the quartersawn, stiffened neck on the attack. This PB-62 seems to have an inherent mellowness that deserves some soft toned flats. Which really isn't my thing. I bought this bass because in the short term I needed something lightweight - it's only 8.0 lbs - and after that it'll go to a friend of mine who really wants a CAR p-bass but who needs to shift some surplus gear first.

Going back to the guy that was asking for Lake Placid Blue, here are some shots that really show the color on my CLRF L-2000. The first two are just nice shots with good natural light. The third shot was in the studio taking pics for my cover band with the "lights" on that sorta mimic stage lighting.

In regards to that LPB Matador, my Matador also had the MFD P pickups. They are pretty unbelievable. I traded the bass to a very good friend, and he loves it. I am really digging the smaller body on my Kiloton, which has me jonesing for an SB-1 or SB-2 build.
