These basses look as if they would have similar tonal qualites. Is this true? I am looking for a passive P-Bass sound with a little more versitility.

G&L L1000 vs Peavey T45

Not even close tonally. The L1000 can do a decent P on steroids tone while the T-45 is not P-ish at all.
I dunno... i think a T-45 can get pretty dang P-ish.
I LOVE the T-45.

Still though... pretty different basses.
On a side note, my T45 has an added T40 pup in the bridge, as well as some re-wiring, to make a ghetto fab version of a G&L L2000. Peavey T2000!!!
