G&L L2000 Pickup Placement

Hi All,

Quick question about G&L pickup placement for those of you who own L2Ks...what is the measurement from the nut to the centerline of the polepieces for both pickups (i.e. nut to top centerline of neck polepieces, bottom centerline of neck polepieces, top centerline of bridge polepieces, bottom centerline of bridge polepieces).

I'm thinking of doing a medium scale build with L2K pickups and I want to make sure I have a good idea of where the pickups are related to the 34" scale. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks!

Sure! There's another thread out there where a guy was having a custom bass made and he chose MFD's as well. Great choice!

Unfortunately I'm not. There's a dent in the fretboard and the bass control is stiff through half of it's rotation. I also prefer the neck profiles of my other basses, which all seem pretty similar. This one goes back.

From the front of the nut to the middle of the bridge pickup is right around 31 5/8" and to the middle of the neck pickup is 28 3/4".

The nut is 1/8" thick, in case you needed from behind the nut.

I just purchased my first 32” and really like the scale. I would also like a medium scale bass made with the MFDs.

Absolutely! I've always liked these pickups and have owned many of the Tributes - and always ended up selling them. For a long while it was the 1.75" nut width (sheesh). This time it was the defects and I had forgotten how high off the body the fretboard is. The fretboard is only maybe 1/4" off the body on my other basses, which makes for a "thinner" feeling playing experience.

These are definitely the pickups to choose when having a custom bass made, though! Let me know when you're getting it put together. Also, there are a ton of ways these pickups can be wired. Here's a great resource for that.

Looks like the neck-side MFD is a hair under where I like to put my reversed Precision pickups in on a 32" scale (MFD pickup centerline would be at 27.066 inches from nut to bridge - approximately the 32nd fret) and the bridge-side MFD would be a tad lower than the 60s and 70s spacing Jazz pickups (and a hair above my Peavey Foundation bridge pickup) with a centerline at 29.766 inches from nut to bridge - approximately the 46th fret). MFD coils are +/- .40625 inches from centerline on these pickups. Awesome!

The link didn't work for me @fourstringbliss I'm thinking of wiring this bass with pickup selector switch, Parallel/Single Coil/OMG switch with volume and passive bass and treble controls (no active circuit, so no need for the active passive switch).
