Im interested in getting a G&L L2500 tribute. I played with one earlier today and im not entirely sure what all the knobs and switches do. I looked at the website and that kinda helped, but not really. I'm also wondering if you can special order a tribute series to be fretless. I know the USA versions can, but the website doesn't say any options for the tribute series.

Here is a diagram that will show you what the controls do.
While this is for the 4-string versions, the L-2500 is exactly the same. NOTE: The tone controls are "cut-only". To find your sounds, start by rolling both of them off by about 50%, then work your way to where you want to be. Many players will create mud, by constantly running their L-series bass with the pickups in series and the tone controls "dimed".
This bass has some of the hottest output and widest range of tonal options of anything you will find out there, so experiment with it and you can sound like just about anything you want. It will do a convincing "mimic" of most of the famous "must have" basses out there(especially if you modify the switching to have single-coil as an option - many posts available on the topic), not an exact sound-alike mind you, but about 90% of the way there on many, many things.

No fretless option on the Tributes. They come the way they come, which is why the price point is so much lower than the USA basses.
