Can you post the nut width dimensions please from side to side, and if the fretboard is rosewood or ebony please? On the L-5500.

I'm in Bloomington, would certainly drive to meet up.

It's really such a good bass, it's exactly what I wanted it to be when I bought it. I don't know why I'm selling it except that I am looking to purchase a 6-string from one of my favorite makers (the guys over at Fishbone Basses in St. Louis). I can't believe how "musical" the Nordstrand preamp is, and the build quality of the bass is solid.

I made a quick and dirty video, I'll try to get that posted.

I do not--but I do have a 1992 G&L case that came with my L2000, which I will never ever sell, so you could have that if you wanted!

@ustabawannab did the work on the L5500, so he may know where the electronics went. I'm sure it was great with the original outfitting. All I can say is that, with the Nordstrand pickups and electronics, the original build quality, and the Plek'ing, this bass absolutely goes toe to toe with the best basses I've owned (which includes a lot of really great basses).

I'll try to get a video or some sound samples up soon!

I'm sure it sounds fine with the new stuff. That isn't at question, and a video will be meaningless to me (maybe not to others). It's just that having the original stuff missing is a bit of a problem to me, and affects what I am willing to pay quite a bit. If you could get that stuff back from him somehow, I would be very interested in the bass.

Certainly, I understand this. I didn't buy the bass from ustabawannab and I'm not going to try to find the original electronics (I assume the trail has gone cold, because he didn't seem to have them when he sold it on here). Although they won't be original to *this* bass, someone could restore it to original specs with EMG 40DCs and a BTC 2-band preamp. I would sell it unloaded if someone wanted to do that (or had other ideas about their own "upgrades").

This particular bass is quite light for an L5500, so perhaps that is an appealing option to some.

My 5500 is pretty light too. Haven't weighed it, but it definitely dives. Not severely, but definitely more than almost all of my other basses.

In case this raises the question for anyone, no, I don't notice an appreciable neck dive with this bass. Just strapped it on to confirm.
