This is what I'm saying. It's not always the price. Play a bass unamplified. You can hear and feel if every note feels even and equal under your fingers. Pickups, tuners and bridges can always be changed, but if the bass doesn't sing, none of the other stuff will make it a great instrument. imho Also make sure the truss rod works.
