To make you feel worse about missing out on getting themWhy do they insist on leaving instruments on this list that are already sold?

Looks like they currently have a lefty L-2000 for anyone who's interested.
I think as you said the Indonesian ones use actual USA pickups, but you may want to upgrade the pots/cap to better matched US components as well. It's been sold. I decided that it was just too good a deal to pass up. I bought three lefty Tribute 4 string necks a few years back when they were blowing them out for 39 bucks..yes, that's right- 39 bucks! I built two budget basses using them, and I still have one maple neck, never mounted, in my shop. I'll finish it, level the frets, and install the parts from my stock on hand, and have a maple neck, if I feel like it is to my preference. I've done a little research, these Indonesian made Tributes seem to use USA pickups and Bridges. We'll see. I'm not sure which lefty I bought- one has a closer grained Ash body than the other. I'll find out when it's unboxed in a couple of days. These are currently $749. at the big box retailers. $300.00 was a killer deal!

The active pre in the L2000 is mostly a buffer/booster preamp, while both of the EQ controls are just passive (bass cut and treble cut, which is equivalent to a standard passive tone control). I’ve wired a few L-series basses as permanently passive as I never found much use for the stock pre personally. Not a problem, I'm a luthier and repairman. I keep a supply of pots, caps, and jacks. Whatever it may need, I probably have it. I would say it probably works fine as is. I'll inspect everything when it arrives. I believe these are active, so- it's a matter of R&R the preamp, if it fails. I've seen American made G&L preamp issues, but not in any Tributes ao far. I will find out soon. G&L Tributes- guitars and basses, I've seen and worked on, were very nice, well made instruments. For 315 bucks with FedEx shipping to Reno, NV. it was an irresistible deal. Especially for a lefty.

I was just about to post the exact same thing! No basses this morning, but the 6 string prices have went way up. Instead of $240-$300, they're $380 - $480 now![]()
L-2500 is $580 now, ugh. Guess all good things come to an endI was just about to post the exact same thing!
They are nearly the same price as a new guitar (Legacy guitar at $400 - $450 used)

Another thing to keep in mind, these are b-stock. If you look, you will see “2” stamped over the serial number. Might not matter to the purchaser, but could matter on resale. I had been keeping an eye out for a nice L2k or SB/LB. The price bump has probably taken me out of the market for one of these from here.
