Yeah, I'm afraid that those models were discontinued. There's a chance that they could be had through the Custom Shop, but that would probably start somewhere north of $3K. Let me know if that's of any interest, and I can check with G&L.

I need to double check with G&L to make sure, but I'm pretty sure that's a yes. The JB has it's own neck profile, and it's 1.5" nut width.

Lefty CLF basses are indeed a thing, I just ordered a BTO lefty CLF-1000 yesterday.

Clear Red is still on the latest price list.

You ARE a sucker for punishment, aren't you? Hahaha.

I've not heard anything, but mid to late January is typically when they make those sorts of announcements. Of course, this year they made 2-3 announcements throughout the year, so who really knows?

Once we get into early January, I'll try to inquire and see if I can't get at least a couple weeks notice if there is going to be a price change.

Yes, Empress is still an official option at this point. They sometimes waffle on whether they like that state of affairs, but that's the current situation.

Sounds like a reliable supply of good-looking Empress for use under trans finishes is a problem, and they seem to feel like strap button screws work their way out of the wood more frequently with Empress than harder woods. That's the two usual gripes I hear from them. Patience usually solves the first one, and the toothpick & glue trick will solve the second one.

I had that issue with a pickup screw. I wish they used brass inserts or something of the sort for the straps and pickup screws. It would certainly make me feel a lot better about it!

I have several Paulownia basses and don't find it to be a problem. If the screw loosens, toothpicks and glue, as Greg said. The sound and weight reduction FAR outweigh the problems of a screw *possibly* coming loose.
