G&L setup around Philly area

That part of it is a tad tricky of you're not familiar with it.
It's not black magic though.

I set the microtilt to off, and will only use it if I have to after running a full setup routine.

I agree chef. I used to use the tilt a little bit but I found that I don't need it so it's set to off.

I've dealt with lots of folks mentioned: Ron Ruggiero (20 yrs. ago), Nick Bucci, the DiPinto shop, and of course Bass Specialties but not for a setup. They're all great. Nick Bucci and Chris DiPinto are excellent luthiers, and I would completely trust them with any setup or repair. (I saw Chris DiPinto's band the other night, and he plays a mean lead guitar too. Very cool guy.) I usually take my basses including G&L's to Bluebond on 4th between South and Lombard. I really like the folks there and they do good work, but they take a long time these days. Next time I might go to DiPinto. When I had a DiPinto bass, they would set it up for free, and they did excellent work.

I'm fairly sure the Bluebond crew is familiar with the three bolt. One of the employees had an old SB-1 they set up in there and sold, and I've seen a few used G&L's on the walls over the years. It's the highest profile setup place in Center City Philadelphia, so they see everything. I would bet Chris DiPinto and his other techs have worked on a few over the years, but I've never talked G&L with them. You could call the shop to find out.
