G&L tribute vs. Sterling by MM basses

In regards to buying a mid-range 5 string from a reputable manufacturer's offshore branch, which bass do you think would be the better choice for a mix of styles, and not require a higher-end replacement in the near future?

G&L tributes are excellent but i haven't played a sterling yet so i cant comment on the better choice. play both and pick the one that feels best to you.
