G&L upper neck problems?

I just got a new G&L tribute L2000, i like it but the one problem i am having is playing some of the upper frets (17-21). do any other owners have trouble with the high frets, or is it just me?

I have an L-1500, and I have no problems except for the 21st fret on the E string. I can get to it, but I choose to alter my finger pattern instead.
