GAHH! HELP!

So I REALLY want this Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass. I ordered it March 28th on Musiciansfriend.com. They backordered it initially until April 9th.

Then April 18th.

Then recently, JUNE 17TH.

So I said, "SCREW THAT!" and I cancelled my order. I have resorted to hunting down the bass in my area.

I've called two Sam Ash stores and realized that the nearest Guitar Center is over an hour away, so I must ask you folks. IDEAS?!?!

Okay, you asked.....

Where's the fire? This is a bass after all, not heart medication.

Nothing personal, but it is beyond the music web sites control on when they recieve the bass. The fact that they are updating you on the progress is a good thing, even if the date moving back stinks....

But the simple matter is, you can wait, or call around, search the web or drive....that's about it...

+1

Mate, an hour drive isn't that bad if you wanna check one out. I was recently going to buy a Spector Rex 4 from the only store in Australia that stock's them. Turns out they didn't have a 4 string on stock which is what I wanted. I got quoted a 6 month wait at the least if I wanted this bass shipped in. Yes, I pulled out my order, yes, I was extremly pissed off, yes, I still want one. But life goes on. Plus, I have a Stingray now! Think of all the guys out there who have ordered the bass of their dreams to be constructed, they have to wait YEARS before they can even see the finished product. Relax, take a drive, try out the bass.

UPDATE: I drove an hour to guitar center, which had one left.

I don't know what a 1000 dollar bass is supposed to sound or feel like, but for 280$ this thing IS A DREAM!!!!! I had a Crate Electra Beginner P-Bass! EW!

The best part was that it was on display. It had already been set up and everything!

I can't believe I got it. I'm ecstatic! :hyper: This is a slap machine! I also love the growly tone! OH MY GOD SO MANY CAPS AND EXLAMATIONS!!!!

See, wasn't the drive worth it? ;) When searching for gear, one must venture far and wide. A $1000 bass feel's like, well, a dream x10? It's a matter of personal preference I guess :p . It's nice to see you have the bass you want. So, are you gonna post some piccies?!

Call Guitar Center and see if they have 'em. If they do, then go try one out.

Personally, I wouldn't touch anything Fender-related without trying it out first anyway. Granted, I'm making a perhaps unfair assumption that, since Fender is so hit-or-miss, then Squier must be as well.

If I'm wrong on this, than I'll take my lumps :)

I have a VM P that I am actually trying to trade or sell for a VM Jazz; however, the P is an OUTSTANDING bass - I am just a jazz guy.
I played 3, one at GC that was OK, one at Skip's in the Sacto area that was really bad, and another at Skip's that was out-of-this-world awesome. So, you are not off the mark in saying this. They are hit-or-not-quite-hit.

The Jazz I got is OUTSTANDING! :-D

I'm such a lucky guy.
