Well lately I noticed the tone was really bassy but that could be from my new bass. Anyways whenever I turn up the master, even with the bass unpluged and the tuner mute on, at a certain point the thing just begins to HUM LOUD ok I don't want you guys to think its just a little humm I mean as if someone was playing bass with their pickups right next to the cab and overdrving the preamp. It just starts to growl at me which has never happened before. Anyone know whats wrong?

if I do anything Im sending it straight back to Gk and either they fix it or they will give me a new one. Im sick of crap breaking. Im ready to just get a small combo or a computer.

I'm sure you'll be able to get it fixed. GK has a good reputation for customer support.

It sounds like you have a lot of stuff breaking. What else has quit on you?

Does the buzz go away when you get further away from the head? Does it buzz with a different bass or with no bass plugged in? make sure you are not using a speaker cable between the bass and the amp.

If you purchased the amp new less than two years ago then it's covered under warranty.

edit - I reread your post and noticed you said it buzzes even without the bass plugged in. Absolutely give us a call.

Hey, I took it here today
M.R. MONTERO ELECTRONICS
800 HICKORY AVE., SUITE B
HARAHAN 70123
(504) 737-8942

The guy wants 60$ an hour if its not under warranty, problem is I can't find proof. I sent you guys an e-mail. The serial number is 1YA0448E06104444.

Im reconsidering getting a Neo 2x12, I mean I like my stuff to work always. I can see if I did something wrong but, no other amp has ever done this. I just hope its fixed soon and doesn't take him too long to do it. What do you guys think the average time it takes to fix it? I'm super broke right now... Man.

BTW I checked it in another cab and it did the same thing. I sure do hope its a simple fix.

That amp is about two and a half years old. In house, we general get stuff repaired within a day or two of it arriving. Most repairs are less than an hour. It depends on the back log of the repair shop you took it to. Did you ask him for an ETA?

Anything could've happened to that amp. It could've been dropped, plugged into bad power etc. GK has one of the lowest failure rates in the industry.

I know how frustrating equipment problems can be Spencer but "don't throw the baby out with the bath water". The guys at GK will bend over backwards to solve problems, just give them a chance. GK amps and cabs are normally rugged as all get out so it's probably something simple.

I have a 1001RB, too. The only problems I have ever had is breaking off knobs since I don't have a case. I ordered parts from GK directly, and they were always easy to work with! That amp os definitely worth the repair!

+1

I've yet to have a piece of GK gear fail on me. Even if it did, I have great faith in their customer service because of their track record; that's partially why I've stuck to GK all this time.

Well, that, and the amps and Neo cabs sound great :D

Spencer, it looks like Daniel Elliott from GK is trying to help you. That's awfully good customer support.

I've used and sometimes abused GK for years and never had problems. But if I did, I find this reassuring.
