That's a great score! I still really like using the 400rb.

I got a series 1 with an old birch Bag End S15 off of Craigslist about 20 yrs ago, and I still love it. I still find GK amps to be dependable, louder than expected, and very musical in the voicing and when overdriven.

When I started, my "dream" amp was an Ampeg fridge. Got to the point where I was buying my first "real" amp, and played some Ampeg classics. They didn't do it for me. Then, I tried an amp by this GK company I'd never heard of - perfection! That was about 15 years ago, and I've never looked back. GK all the way!

Played a great show today with my L800. First time I ever got to gig it. In NYC, you rarely get to use your own amp. I would've used this amp on a tour that was supposed to start right around when everything shut down in March of 2020. This place we play pretty often has this big Kustom cab, so today I brought the GK and holy crap it sounded amazing. For some weird reason, the input jack was at the very bottom of the cab, but my cable wasn't long enough for the amp to sit on top. Jammed a stool in between the cab and the piano next to it for the amp. Basically had the Trim knob dimed, Master to taste, and the EQ pretty much all at noon. Instant incredible tone. That's what I love about GK. I can very quickly find a great tone; in fact, very hard for me to find a bad tone. Ignore the knob settings in the photo. I hadn't fixed it all after taking it out of the bag.

Anyone with a Fusion 550 need replacement knobs?

I replaced all the knobs on my Fusion 550 and found the originals in my parts bin this weekend…

There is a GK Fusion 550 for sale locally for $850 AUD, I am so tempted to buy it.. despite living my 700RB II and not having any occasion to use it. Even now 90% of my playing is headphones to not disturb the rest of the house.

if it makes any difference, i love the 550. i've run it both bi-amped and straight and it does not fail to deliver a beautiful, huge, warm tone. the bottom just feels so big. i do worry about the motorized knobs a bit, so I don't know that I would be bringing this to a lot of gigs. i typically bring a Mesa D800+ and the 210 to gigs these days since i do smaller acoustic-ish 90s covers. however, given the chance to play a larger show i would grab my other GK 212 and stack them with the 550 in a heartbeat. i haven't played that particular combo out but i've run it that way at the house. yes, it's worth the effort (to me).

$850 AUS is about $550 USD...a steal really. I've seen them anywhere from $700 to $1300 USD over here. it's a beautiful sounding amp and i don't think i'd ever part with it unless an emergency arises.

it's actually more lopsided than that....if you look at the right side, under the table....there's a Fusion 800S and an MB Fusion 800.
i have issues. but, i know what i like.

Owner of RB 700-II and MB Fusion 800. Play them through G&K Neo 412 cab. I really like the way these play!

Joining the club. Reading back a few pages, it seems like there's not a lot of love for the Fusion S stuff, or at least not a lot of talk about them.

I bought the 212 Neo IV to go with my Ashdown Geezer HOD (600w class A/B) in order to have a compact and powerful rig and so far it's delivering, although I need a few more live gigs with it to get used to the EQ, and getting the ability to make effective changes quickly.

Then I stumbled upon what appeared to be a good deal on a Fusion 800s. I think it is a pretty good head, great tones and plenty loud. I am chasing an issue where after warming up and playing it for a few minutes it seems to want to fizzle and cut out occasionally. I'm trying to replicate the issue consistently, and I swapped out all the preamp tubes. Since the tube swap, I caught it doing it once but I still need to play it a lot at a moderate volume to see if it comes back.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with their Fusion S?

I haven't had any GK gear since literally the last millennium (sold off my beloved early 800RB in '99).

I used that 800RB in bi-amp mode with the lows going to a 4 ohm Ampeg 810e and the highs into an 8 ohm GK210! A big giant 10x10 rig with the 800RB on top!

When I bought used 1988 SVT-II in 1999, I was sold on all tube and stayed there for quite awhile. Still have an all tube Orange AD200 / 210 / 115 rig, but the big heavy SVT's are a thing of the past for me. Mostly keep the all tube stuff at the rehearsal spaces (a new re-issue V4B at one place and a vintage Ampeg V2 guitar head and V4BH bi-amp rig at the other) while the little 212 and Ashdown will be for bars and small stages. The Orange rig for the occasional bigger stages we get to play.
