Gallien-Krueger GMT 600G For Bass?

Saw a GK GMT 600G for sale at a pretty cheap price but was wondering if it works well for bass, like the 600B?

Is it like the Ampeg V4 / V4B scenario where one is designed for guitar and has extra knobs like distortion, but the differences are minute enough that they both do well for bass?

Don't know about Carlos, but John Paul Jones used the 300B in 1975.

The 300G for sale is in good working condition for about $275. Looks like a boat anchor, though.

That 300B is a bass version for $75 more, don't know the condition.

There is some talk and some AI goofiness that says the 600 G and B are essentially the same, while there are some claims the G is solid state and the B is tubes

Whoops, typo there, I should have said the 600G for sale near me is $275.

I think all the early GMT models are solid state, but there's very little about them, especially the 'G' model.

I wouldn't 100% trust AI, it's probably using this thread as part of it's 'info mining', but I wouldn't be surprised if the B and G models are almost the same. The ad says 'can be used for guitar and bass'. Also, there's a short interview with Bob Gallien, where he says their eq can accommodate any instrument, so that reinforces the concept.

For what i can recall, they are basically the same amp with different frequencies of actions for the EQ
Several years ago I used a 600B in the studio and I really liked it

Something that old, my first concern would be what happens if it breaks down and 1 or more defective parts are no longer available.
