Double Bass Gallien Krueger mb 112 or 115

I have never bought a bass amp before but my bass playing is now beginning to demand a amp thats good for small venues. i.e.. a pub.

I've looked at these two the Gallien Krueger mb112 and 115. Bass guitar amps. (will these be good for double bass?) I don't feel I can stretch for the mb115s-112III even though I played through a friends and fell in love.

Generally, most doublebassists report that 15" speakers aren't the best for our instrument. 12's are very common and popular, as are 10's and even 8's.

12's seem to be the least popular choice among bass guitarists, who seem to favor 10's or 15's.

But, they're your ears and if you've played both with your doublebass, then go with what you hear.

I would not get impatient and by a 15" for upright bass amplification, if that is your only consideration. I don't think that experienced players on this board will tell you differently, if that's what you're asking.

At present the mb115 is in stock, but I need to wait for the mb 112. Should I just go with the 115 or wait? If both are good I'll go with the 115.

As others have suggested, an MB 112 would probably be more desirable for Double Bass, hopefully you'll be able to acquire one. Gallien Krueger is currently in transition between the original MB combos and the new models that they previewed at the winter NAMM show. The new amps look very interesting, but sometimes the lead time between GK's previews and actually purchasing them can be many months.

Im waiting for the MB112-II and the MBP12 powered extension to be released. Want to replace my Walkabout Scout:crying: for less weight and increased flexibility, & for doubling
...all based on my eyes liking the design, SO the new MB112 must sound good to my ears first.
