~ Gallien- Krueger MB Series Amplifiers ~

Which 500W Gallien-Krueger MB series amplifier is the most “RELIABLE“?

Absolutely B-string, yeah everything seems to have some glitches/bugs, etc when they first come out - IE, look at Ipad. Anyway, I like GK so I’m hoping these small newer lightweight MB amps are going to become rock solid like the 800/400RBs.

Personally, so far I’m leaning towards the MB500 - but I’m still a little worried about reliability, and these repair time reports of “two months” are completely unacceptable - but, I love the GK sound - so I’m riding the fence.

Everyone - please keep voting and commenting.

I’m betting SilkyStrings (post #15) will be happy to read this too - I know I am, I’d ship “overnight” delivery. ;)

EDIT: UPDATE - Thank you everyone for voting and all your comments - it is much appreciated.
I’m ordering the MB500 - I love GK amps!!!

PS -I don't know how to end this poll? If a mod would close this poll for me you'd rule. thanks

All those faulty units and problems, that was a surprise coming from GK, I was about to buy one, now I don't think so don't wanna buy a lemon.
Would be good to have some input from GK on all this problems.

Contact [email protected] or just wait to see if RAG (Robert A Gallien) stops in this thread. :)

I'll repeat this for you although I don't work or speak for G-K "I don't know what all the revisions were (A00-A07). I know one revision was driven by comments/concerns here on TB. Robert Gallien responded to comments here by re-voicing the preamp! Remember that when the MB2-500 hit the market the class D modules were very new to Bass MI use. Took guts to be the scape-goat and take the financial hits to bring these little class D wonders to the market, not only under the G-K name but many others have profited from G-K's early efforts." Quoting myself is weird.........

Just help a fellow TB'er recently hook up with a MB210 repair (second hand unit). Took longer to ship back, forth and for him to decide than to repair ;) (Thanks again Jason @ G-K)

LOL... Just found this! I am the TB'er that B-String helped, and I am happy to report that the MB500 amp in my MB210 came back good as new and I've been gigging the crap out of it for over a year with no problems. The folks at GK were great.

Love my mb500, and my back loves it even more. Had it paired with the MBEII115 cab and I could not get a tone I liked which is weird because I like the MB115 II combo. Paired it with the MBEII210 and it was nirvana, added another MBEII210 and I am in 500 watt heaven. Im no expert but I compared the earlier model MB210 combo and a MB210 II and it appears they are ported a littlle differently, the stand alone MBEII210 seems to be ported the same as the combo and the of the two combo,s the MBII had a deeper rounder sound with more headroom, IMO.

And as always with GK the MB500 XLR out to the FOH is awesome.

my MB 500 fusion has been a gem down here in southern spain. it handles dusty , dry and very very hot conditions with ease. the only tiny prob i had was the pad button does not stay engaged when pressed. it will stay in after a few pushes but i dont use it anyway so it aint a problem for me . i'v had it just over a year and its FAB in every respect. i have the MB 200 as a backup but i doubt i'll need to use it.except for light duty gigs.I LOVE GK.
