Gallien-Krueger MB2-500: Part II

Anybody have any experience of the DI on this head? I will be using it for the first time on a gig this coming week. Seems OK through my PA at home, but did anyone do the soundman acid test yet?

Used mine (A02 model) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at gigs which all had PA support. All 3 soundmen said it was great.

The best part of the whole thing was at the High Dive in Seattle when the soundguy Jeremy (who did a GREAT job) says, "Do you have a DI on your mic pre?" :p

Just dropped off my a00 for return, to which GK sent me the shipping label for. Once they see it is on it's way, they two-day me a brand new one to updated spec!!!!!

Thanks a bunch rag, and brian.....it's top service like this that will make customers for life. This is my first GK experience, by the way.

my mb2-500 showed up yesterday. let me tell you, i love it. (see this thread for a little detail.) before this, my gk amp was a 200 rcb (the head version of the 200 mb) through a 15" black widow. this amp is different from my 200 rcb, but it has that gk tone/presence that i fell in love with so many years ago. it was easy to set it and play.

i did open it up... and when rag says that the changes are simple that any certified gk repair tech could do... he's absolutely telling the truth. one is a cap to ground and the other is a resistor with a cap in series to an IC. very easy.

if any of you like the gk sound, you'll love these. it was worth the wait. the only thing i would change is to make the footswitch a two button footswitch and have one of them dedicated to the mute switch. i can't imagine that'd be that tough. and maybe (this is a big maybe) have a way to plug in an ipod to practice along with. i think i'll just go buy a splitter from rat shack and put my ipod in at the front (paralleled with my bass) and just practice that way.

thanks rag and everyone else at gk for making another solid product.

I was thinking about one of these to slide it into before I put it in my bag with all my cables and other items.

I would never consider racking this thing, IMO that totally defeats the point. On the other hand a small case like this

Zebra case

in the proper size would work nicely..

true. i've been looking at small pedal board cases recently.

then just use it like a svt anvil case
