Gallien-Krueger MB212 --- Any Comments?

I am considering the GK MB212 combo amp for my keys. I play LH bass along with (mostly) Hammond type sounds in the right hand, and pianos on another keyboard when applicable, and I usually prefer bass combo amps to "keyboard" amps for my keys. They've got more guts, oopmh and just seem less "dainty" than keyboard amps.

Any of you out there have experience with this GK? I've read bad and good reviews--some folks can't believe the power and punch for a sub-$700 package. Others say it's junk, buzzes, is unreliable, cuts out, etc. etc. I don't want to waste my time and money with a product that's so unreliable and has such inconsistent reviews.

Anybody?

Really? I’m a proud owner, and I found the reviews for the 212 to be some of the most positive and consistent across the web (for a solid state). I have never had an issue with mine. There is a slight hiss that comes from the tweeter but I have noticed this with almost all Piezo's, plus, It’s not noticeable to me or others when I play, therefore it's not an issue. I don’t think there are many combos on the market to compare it to (neo 2x12’s, 500watts of output power, tweeter, passive and active inputs, that weighs only 16kgs for around $800). Iv'e been rehearsing with mine in a 4 piece rock band for about 4 months now. It feels and looks like a weapon. Have never had to turn the master and gain past half way. I'm very happy, and have received compliments from band members and other musicians.

’A piece of junk’, haha, that person should be slapped. If it is, then please show me footage inside factories of other brands that display quality control, engineering and manufacturing processes like this...

I haven't had a chance to really open mine up yet, but what I've heard so far is great. The guitarist I rehearsed with said that it just sounded right from the first note, and I respect his sonic taste.

I like the EQ -- the freq. bands are place perfectly, for me. For keyboards, I don't know if you'll love the top end -- the tweeter is a bit odd sounding. Not terrible (and not so noisy as some others have reported), just a bit odd. I keep it off. That way, we're probably dealing with 50hz to 6khz, or something like that.

I got mine very slightly used. It was missing a bolt and a washer from the top of the passive input jack. But it sounds and plays perfectly. Haven't heard any rattles or vibrations. FWIW.

Thanks for your two owner opinions on this rig. Here's a couple of links to view the referenced "inconsistent" reviews:

I mean some of these buyers really bash this amp with one guy (Jeff from NJ) on his second failed one. That's disheartening--especially if you buy online and have to go through the hassle of re-packaging and returning the amp.
