I've been considering switching to logic too but really GarageBand seems to do everything I need. That may change as I record more with my band instead of solo on the couch.

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what my (I thought it was $229?) would get me, not to mention I'd need to free up some disk space to make the switch.

I love Garage Band. It's super user friendly. It reminds me of the old days of using a tape driven Tascam 8 track. It has nice guitar amp sims which is great since I don't have any of that stuff as a bassist. The sound quality is really good too and the latest version has virtual drummers that will play to your music. With a little finagling it works pretty well, better than drum machines.

I agree with everyone stating to become comfortable with GB before jumping to Logic. GB can really do some amazing stuff and the tracks can be imported to Logic when you are ready. IMHO, it's the audio interface which makes a bigger difference.

Logic can do a million really cool things that GB can't. But if you don't know about them, you might not need any of those things.
Time sig changes, folders/takes, lots more synths/sounds/loops/models, standard notation, better pitch editing, and other more esoteric things.

I've been a Logic use for 10+ years, so at this point it's easier for me to use than GB is. And I need time sig changes and standard notation, so it's well worth it for me.
