It's been almost 2 months and I haven't traded or bought one friggin' pedal!

Do people do this?
Is there something wrong with me?
Is there a medication that can help!?

Having done extensive research on the affliction known commonly as GAS ,I have come to the following conclusions. If you find yourself in want of something , there is really no hope. You are destined to suffer until you find a way of aquiring your need. If you get it , very soon something else will take your fancy and the GAS pains will begin all over again. If by some chance you find yourself not in need of anything , you will question your sanity and wondering if you are missing something really important in life. The simple fact of the matter is we are all doomed , doomed I tell you. There is no way out of the abyss of GAS. The cycle is neverending and inescapable. Abandon all hope. Have a nice day:)

Gear acquisition syndrome(or gas for short) is very common for many musicians. including bass players. it'll pass eventually once you find the right gear for you. everyone here has gased for a certain musical gear once in a while. so you're not alone.

I'm kind of there right now. Going to a music shop (Guitar Center or otherwise) is waaaay less fun that just playing with the board I already have. I still have a list of things I want to try, but right now my board is the playground I've wanted it to be for a while. And in the past I was a big multi-effects guy. But I've slowly replaced those big boards with my "ideal" versions---or close to it---of various effects; a solid compressor, the dirt that I want, the pitchshifting and synth effects that I want (although my synth quest still continues). So many options, I really need to do a better job of dialing them all in.

Just remember, GAS doesn't have to be about changing/upgrading what you have, it can also be simply about getting more, more, MORE! For example, there is always a place for more dirt pedals. Doing that would mean a bigger pedal board for you, and then you'd have a lot more space to fill it. You'd have to look at some more modulation, like flanger/phaser/chorus. Did you read the latest phaser shootout comparison around here? If not, go do so, that's sure to induce GAS.

You *can* regain the urge - just don't let yourself rest easy or become complacent!!!
