It’s in California, that dollar amount will not go far there. Seller must be thinking ahead to their next mortgage payment.

Wow, I think even $1,200 is a joke. Are you making me a deal?
If it was local and I could play it and determine how it played and sounded…. I’m not sure I’d rule it out!
And that's where the seller made their fatal mistake...they shoulda been playing the crap out of it since '78, because by now it'd be a serious, genuine roadworn relic, and people would be shoving each other outta the way to fork over the twelve-five for it...Made 1978, in unplayed as-new condition. No case.

No case? Well, that's a deal-breaker right there.Made 1978, in unplayed as-new condition. No case.
I feel many people tried to play it and quickly abandoned that idea. Therefore, barely anyone has touched it since 1978.....
AND it's in Petaluma ! I could go look at it. It appears that Alembic made this bass, or someone who had Alembic bridge, etc. Since Alembic is right here, I wouldn't be surprised if the control plate was milled there, too.
It also has the what I call Lee Sklar EMG's. The older ones had the logo on them and are impossible to find. EMG is also local, so I'm sure it was made here.
Just a side note, the Leland Sklar Charvel bass that has the EMG's is a Charvel body, also from California, and is the most recorded bass in history ; on over 2000 albums.
Lee is the reason I want to downsize. He only owns 4 basses.
Yes, I agree, but somehow I seem to get caught up in the same hoopla as everyone else.Interesting..I heard some Spector folks talking about these older pickups.
A lot of people think once you cannot find something anymore there is magic to it.
I know these pickups and to be honest there is nothing special to them. EMGx have great response for an active pickup.
I'm not doging them, just stating IMHO really nothing specials to them.
