This monstrosity is the perfect example of the phrase "an affront to the senses" and in a perfect world, it would be destroyed before it could do further harm.
I have to imagine the outrageous price is an error.
Certainly no one in his right mind would pay even one tenth the asking price.
Other than that, there is no such thing as a Pterodactyl.

Okay, it’s clearly not priced to sell but c’mon…. let’s be honest…. did anybody look at that headstock and NOT laugh? I love all my ’serious’ basses but I have to admit the idea of having a bass that made me laugh every time I picked it up is pretty appealing. Maybe not $12,000 appealing, though.
The sum total of everything pictured in this corner of my old garage did not approach 12,500 CAD.
Too Wild! If they took one zero off, I would be interested to play a bass no one else would have.
AND it's in Petaluma ! I could go look at it. It appears that Alembic made this bass, or someone who had Alembic bridge, etc. Since Alembic is right here, I wouldn't be surprised if the control plate was milled there, too.
It also has the what I call Lee Sklar EMG's. The older ones had the logo on them and are impossible to find. EMG is also local, so I'm sure it was made here.
Just a side note, the Leland Sklar Charvel bass that has the EMG's is a Charvel body, also from California, and is the most recorded bass in history ; on over 2000 albums.
Lee is the reason I want to downsize. He only owns 4 basses.

If it was local and I could play it and determine how it played and sounded…. I’m not sure I’d rule it out!
I love all the Peavey gear !!! Peavey - The amp that can fall out of the truck on the way to the gig, then down a flight of stairs, then off the stage, just in time to play the show.
The Terrordactyl is more like it. $12,500? You can buy a car for that. A unique bass, no doubt. Neck through, sloppy pickup routs, fancy control plate, cartoon headstock and chiseled out inlay channel at the edge of the body. You can make one like it in your basement for a few hundred bucks. No thanks.
The control plate looks like a pickle with feet.
Maybe $12.5k in Monopoly money. I kinda feel bad for the owner. He/she is clueless and has waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much personal attachment to it.
