You know, the more I think about it, it probably doesn't matter what head you have, as long as you have access to some sort of flexible EQ, and/or notch filter. What I found myself doing was compensating for resonant peaks with the cab...and once I did, things smoothed out pretty nicely.
Also, while the LMII is ugly as sin (one of it's few flaws), it's not quite as hideous as that picture makes it look. The color is more of an orange/yellow, and in person, it's not as obnoxious looking on top of the subtle EA cab.
