gavin degraw bass player Alvin Moody

Hey what's going on guys,

I've been listening to gavin degraws chariot stripped CD a lot recently, and just can't get enough of alvin moody's tone.

Any insight on his setup, or how to get this type of tone? It's relatively unique in my opinion.

any thoughts?

Listened to Chariot. Amazing. Really great pop tune. Melody is ridiculous. Pocket is great.

On the subject here... Based on my computer speakers here, I feel like I could get close to that sound with a P Bass, tone rolled back, half wounds or ground wounds or even semi-dead rounds. It's in the hands too. That's me.

Sounds like he may be actually playing a 5 string bassed (pun & misspelling intended :smug:) on a few of the notes in there or at least tuned down. Maybe a boutique Jazz bass of some sort?

AT the end of the day it's hard to tell exactly, obviously. I'm glad you posted this as I now have some cool stuff to listen to this afternoon. This guy can really sing his ass off!
