GB Electronic Help ?

Shock horror today,

Went to change the batteries in my GB today (cause I thought they had gone), only to discover a loose black wire...!!...

Not good cause this isnt the end attached to the 9v connector for the battery..

My GB has markings on the circuit board clearly starting Batteries and it goes

Red, Black (the one that's come off), Red, Black.

So seemed straight enough just resolder, job done... Nope..

I touched the wire against the connection point on the circuit board expecting a sound but nope nothing...

However, when i touch the wire against another metal object inside the bass, or around the sides where there is shielding paint.....life....well...kinda life I get sound but the EQ is bypassed and turning any knob makes no difference to the sound...and the Battery LED Monitor light flashes constantly...and they are new batteries... So we are gathering there's an Earth Issue as well...THe jack socket is Nutrix locking jack and hasn't really given me any issues..

Help....!!..

Has anyone got a GB IV with the control knobs in a straight line rather than the Rumor style controls the IV eventually got (and renamed Spitfire).

Mine had a Circuit Board upgrade to the Spitfire's spec..

Or has anyone got a clue...

Gonna give GB a call but its like £35.00 carriage each way plus repair costs...and i really dont like the thought of my Baby flying up and down the country in a van...nor do I want the 8hr drive to Brighton...!!

Any help...greatly appreciated.

I am charging my camera...I will get some pics up soon...
