GBE 750.. or 1200?

well, I've definately decided on a genz benz over a Carvin.

Now I've got to decide on whether to get the 750 or the 1200.

I'm currently running a Carvin 2x10, 400W @ 4 ohms and a Carvin 115, 600W @ 4 ohms.

I plan on purchasing a 4x10 in the future, not sure which though...


so my question really is: is it even necessary to buy the 1200? the 750 could run the 4x10 and 1x15 without any problems.. is there a reason for the extra 450 watts?

recently faced the same question and decided on the 1200.

My logic was to settle for the head that you won't likely outgrow. Who knows, you might go 4x10 and 2x15 in the future.... cabs might keep getting better = higher wattage handling.

..... and if you're spending $1000 (which is WELL worth it!) why not spend a little more for wattage that won't let you down. Plus, it's a little heavier so if you ever have to heave it at your drummer, it's sure to do more damage. Just my opinion.....

The 750 is plenty loud. The 1200 is loud as all hell, I know I own one. although I am selling for a very reasonable price:D. The 1200 is about 8 pounds heavier but it isn't cumbersome at all. They both could handle what you are doing or what you want to do in the future. It's really whether or not you want the headroom and the expandability that the 1200 offers?

Depends on what music/gigs you plan on playing, but if you don't ever want to have to get a bigger amp, buy a 1200 - in fact buy willsellout's, it's reasonably priced. Maybe he'll even throw in shipping since you are not too far away. I myself am very satisfied with my GBE750.

Either will work well. I was in the same boat as you at one point, and I opted for the 1200 just because I like headroom. And the truth of it is, I have so much headroom that it sometimes feels like a waste. I could have been just fine with the 750. However, I don't regret my decision, although I do occasionally think about trading it for a 750. A 210 on top of 115 is a classic setup, and the 750 would push it well. But, if you really want to drive a 4 ohm 410 hard, you need the 1200. If you put that 410 on top of the 115, the 1200 would make that rig painfully loud. Like others have said, if you want volume and power, the 1200 is a sure thing. However the 750 is probably a sure thing.

Beware of the molded racks with the inset handles, some models block the fan inlet vent on the side. You need ~1" clearance for proper ventilation.

Here's what I used as a rack for "tour testing" the hardware and doing my thermal tests:

Choose a depth that allows you to store the footswitch and power cable in the back.

for me, i won the 750. it is plenty powerful for me. I run it through a 4 ohm NEOX212Tand it is loud. I may get another 212 for outdoor shows but that's it for me.
It really is a personal preference thing, you can't go wrong with either.

Also, they do make an EZ-Sleeve for the 750. I know, because I own one and use it with mine:)
