Well, it's almost MechaGodzilla.

My question is, does anyone run two Shuttles to power two 4 ohm cabs? Would this combo make for a 7.5 pound, scaled down version of a GBE1200?

Buffordbass?

Bueller?

:)

PS - Let's not turn this into 'GBE1200 Power Ratings...v2.0'

My guess is, this would work fine, as long as you realize you would basically have a GBE1200-equivalent with only the tube channel, and fixed 'on/off' voicing buttons versus the variable filters on the 1200.

Edit: There's someone on the site who is doing this with success, but I can't remember who it is. I assume he will show up on the thread sooner or later.

I was thinking it was Terry aka 'Buffordbass'. I know he had a pic with two Shuttle heads, a NeoX212, and two NeoX112s.

Yes it is a great rig. Is it a replacement for a 1200... NO!!!
The 1200 is more than just 1200 watts. You haul the 40# around instead of 8 Lbs because it gives you the ability to fine tune EVERYTHING, in an incredible way!!!

Yay!!! :hyper:

Thanks Terry, do you slave one amp from the other via effects send/return? I asked Roger and he said this would be the best way to do it.

I just tried this setup: Shuttle 6.0 > NeoX212T with effect send from 6.0 to the effects return of an Ashdown Mag 600 > UL410. Either rig by itself sounds awesome, but when I turn them both on it sounds like there are phase issues, the bottom drops right out! I checked both cabs using the old 9v battery trick and they are both in phase with each other.

Thoughts, feelings, ramblings would be appreciated.

Thanks, Alan

I use an MXR M-80... my 'never leave home without it' tool, so I just ran one out from the primary to amp#1 and from the parallel out to amp#2, sounded like a million bucks.

If that is how Roger said it is best done, I would believe it... he IS the man! May be an issue with the compatability of the 2 manufacturers or something, so sell the ashdown and get a second shuttle... problem solved !!

OK, seriously now, try the effects send from the shuttle to the input of the ashdown and see if it makes a difference.

So, wouldn't that mean that you are sending one signal to amp one that has been processed by the M80 but the signal going to the other amp is direct, no processing? The parallel out of the M80 is just a direct signal. I am not saying that is bad, it is just one amp is going to be delivering a processed signal and one not.

OK, I tried effects send to input on Ashdown and it's IN PHASE and sounds LOUD! Of course it's going through the front end of the Ashdown and adding that sound in there.....

This is just a test to see if I want to get another Shuttle to use as a slave anyway. If I knew the effects send and return trick worked in phase using two Shuttles, I think I'd do it.

Thanks Terry!

PS - Got the Ashdown from Music123, I can still send it back.
:hyper:

Ok, so then after all this talk of slaving the shuttle...

how do you do it?

What does it achieve?

I'm out of my depth but I want to know more. I have a shuttle and may come into an old Marshall Superbass sometime soon(ish) and am wondering if I can run the Superbass into the shuttle. ie - distorted tone of marshall with the output wattage of the 6.0...

Do I know what I am talking about here? Is this do-able? Help!

superbass into a shuttle might be a problem. iirr the superbass gets it's distortion from powertube beakup. (or a lot of it) taking a line out (if it even has one) will omit this. you could use a speaker line di and it may work alright but keep in mind you will have to still run the super into a cab and very loudly to get that sound then di into the shuttle into another cab. a tube amp needs a load connected while it's operating or you will break something. for the super i would just get a lot of speaker and run it on it's own.

shuttle to shuttle... a single cable effects loop out of 1 into the return of 2... cabs to suit.

See, that's what I thought.

Just run each to a separate cab and mix the sound that way. Since I only want the distortion/breakup and volume of the Superbass and since the GB 6.0 would be doing the rest...

Theoretically, I could just get away with a 210 for the Superbass and use my 410 for the Shuttle?

Yep.... that's probably the easiest way to flip the phase. However, I'd suggest putting a label on the cable so that you know which one is the out-of-phase speaker cable.
Out of curiosity I tried this....and it worked. So, I'm getting monumental volume and punch out of:

GB Shuttle 6.0 into a GB NeoX212T
then running out of the effects send of the 6.0 into the effects return of the WalkAbout,
through a reversed speaker cable into an Epi UL410.

The volumes match pretty well because the Epi is a little more efficient than the NeoX.

Now could anyone explain why the phase gets reversed in the second amp?
