Many years ago I bought a Music Man compact 15”. It was a great size, looked cool, and was cheap. Sadly it didn’t sound good and tended to rattle badly when pushed.

Yep, I thought that was going to replace my B-15N(C) cabinets that I used with a Walter Woods MI-100-8.

From the 800 manual: LINE IN (rear panel) An XLR balanced line input may be connected on the rear of the amp. The signal enters prior to the Master control, but bypasses all preamp EQ and limiting. Thermal limiting and short circuit protection are still effective.
Run the Felix into the rear line in balanced input of the Quilter 800. It bypasses the the preamp and eq section of the Quilter, and you'll be using just the preamp and eq options of the Felix at that point through the main amp of the Quilter. This is a very nice feature and gives you input options. Just use an xlr cable from the Felix output to the Quilter.
I wish the TC Electronic BAM200 had this feature or an effects loop. But its eq section and preamp work really well with upright bass as is.

That Ampeg cab is also about 1/3 the price also isn’t it? Very under rated imo.
^^^This. plus I kept accidentally kicking that flimsy little cable and breaking it. Oy, how I don't miss that thing.

On the other side of the fence, it's a testament to the PJB Super Flightcase that I actually sold my EA VL 208 cabinets once I got it. Those things were great!
I know Mark Anderson from Monroe Crossing plays PJB and loves their gear.
I found it took a good while and different amp setting than I was used to, I got some advice on the phone from them - advised not setting the level past 2 o'clock. That really helped. I feel I can fill a decent sized room with it and find it better than anything when mixed with a DI to the house - if you still have it, don't give up yet.
One truth I did find - you do have to play as if you are acoustic - there is no relaxing a bit since you have the amp on.
Sold it! The MAS 16 works better for me.
EA cabinets, use transmission line design ( think Bose Wave or a Tuba) inside the boxes. Euphonic Audio Speaker cabinet are expensive and heavier than the 210 AV. They are very good at reproducing lows, unfortunately most of that low end is lost once you get out into the middle of the house. By all accounts the 210AV’s are good cabinets, but they lack the detail and timbre of the EA’s. IME IMHO. Just my take however.

Not their fault as they're very well made boxes. They just didn't seem to mesh with what I was using for amps at the time. Live and learn.

the EA is a far superior 2x10 cab compared to a couple other 2x10s I’ve tried. Kinda wished I kept it but I’d still probably leave it home for the more compact option.
I went through a phase of using tube amps with the upright (vintage Traynor Bass Mate & newer Ampeg PF-50T). For a while I was hooked - there is a certain musicality I only ever seem to get from a tube power section. But transport/EQ/headroom/maintenance hassles drove me back to solid state...
... at least for now. (Got a Glockenklang solid state head that has a beautiful, full response all its own with none of the headaches.)
I still wouldn't permanently rule out a return to all-tube for upright gigs. Finding the right tone section with sufficient wattage, in a practical form factor, reliable & serviceable, in my budget - that may take a while.

The Gallien Krueger MBE. I sold my GK 200 MB (series II) to get the new version. Only to discover that they had changed the EQ section.
The amp lost all it's inherent warmth. By the time they got around to building the MBS, I had moved on to other amplifiers.

An all-original 1960 Sunburst Precision that looked like it was brand new. It did not sound or feel as good as the well-worn 1964 Precision that I preferred to play at the time (and kept). Besides, it looked so new I'm sure most everyone would assume it was a reissue, and that took some of the cool factor off for me. Sorry, vanity, I know.
A 1962 Jazz that had been refinished to Oly White. Dan Erleywine even redid the neck for me. I still couldn't ever come to love it. And when they're worth more to someone else than they are to me, I sell.
The good news is they're now both in the hands of a good friend and player who's just much more interested in collecting than I am. He flips a lot of stuff for me too, but not those. I'm sure he'd let me borrow them if I really felt the need.
