While a huge Rush fan, I'll echo what many others have said - the bass is well constructed, 70s pup spacing, Badass II and has a classic look. I bought mine back before Fender upped the $ and it remains one of the best values I've ever purchased. This bass paired with my old GK 1001rb was a tone dream come true. Since then the neck has proved a bit to narrow and thin for me and I'm more on P basses know, but the GL is still right next to my desk . . .

My mij Geddy feels the best and out of all my other USA jazz basses. Sounds great stock also! The neck is slim and its never needed adjustment in 6 years.
If your looking for a growly jazz with a slim neck you should check them out! Great deals on used MIJ's to be had.

I just placed an order for the USA Geddy from MF. I used the 20% off coupon and scored it for $1280.00 shipped!
I couldn't pass up that price for a USA fender even though it's back ordered.
Should ship mid August.

I forgot to mention that I think they look amazing with the blocks on the maple board. Wish I had a P like it. Didn't care too much for the white pg though, but it looks great with black or tort. Once you swap the pg on it, it's much less identifiable as a Geddy while retaining everything else that's cool about it.

The only thing I like about it is the neck. Block inlays give me GAS. I don't care whose name is on it. A jazz is a jazz.

I've owned two CIJ Geddys and love the way they play and sound. Really aggressive growl with a pick. Half the price of an American Fender jazz too.

Looks wise, I love the big early 70s JAZZ BASS curved logo, the black blocks, and for me swapping the white pick guard for a black one is a must.

If what I'm hearing is true the new MIA GL neck profile is more like the original 72/73 style neck. BTW you can get a pearl on maple block neck on a P bass ... Go to the Design Experience page on Fenders web site.

Geddy is my main reason to play bass since I watched "Show of Hands" video when I was in high school.
My 2004 GL JB CIJ was bought in 2008 for about 500$ used in mint condition. The neck is super comfortable and in about 6 years I only have to adjust it once. The sound is just like how a good Jazz should sound.
Lot of other bass players I know, non Geddy/Rush fans, also like the bass a lot. It's bit heavy for 4 stringer tho. And I don't play on Rush tribute band.

Another point - when I bought mine, they were made in Japan. I believed the Japanese quality to be very high.

I was able to get a well made Fender Jazz with a great neck for around half the cost of USA models.

I love mine due to the neck profile and the tone. However, I actually prefer the 60's pickup spacing (just a little more bass in the response).

I have a CIJ GL Jazz Bass.
I got it for many reasons :
Killer look (Maple with black Block inlays)
Great price / Quality
Thinner neck

I like it very much. It growls a lot, put I replaced the pickups with Dimarzios. More Bass , round and loud.
I customizei mine, replacing pickguard , neckplate , adding a series/parallel on push pull pot and installing a Hipshot Detuner.

Althought I'm a Rush fan, my Bass is not a GL exactly.

Got my USA GL 2 days ago.

I've never been into "signature" models. I just wanted a nice Jazz on the roster. This one seemed like it had some nice upgrades on it.

Man, the neck is a thing of beauty. Not only visually, but in a tactile way. Really plays with such a familiar feel that I forget it's new.

Sound-wise, it's definitely a Jazz. I set the neck relief pretty flat and like the live neck sound. I put Roto 66s on it. When I want the "plunk plunk" sound I'll use the P.

It was very easy to set the intonation. This bass really oozes quality. I'm very happy with it although I'm not sure why they didn't have the foresight to carve out the pickguard so I could get to the truss rod adjustment without removing all those little screws. That's just silly.

I used it at a rehearsal last night and it has a pretty wide ranging time. I was able to fake a P Bass tone (kinda) and definitely kills as a Grindy Jazz. Really fun to play on that comfy neck.

Thanks, one thing about that Black Gloss finish, it shows every reflection from every direction. I'm not complaining though.
